Lighthouse recoginized for outstanding gains in student achievement by the Effective Practice Incentive Fund. |
The Effective Practice Incentive Community (EPIC) is a five-year program run by New Leaders for New Schools and funded by the Federal Government and a group of private sponsors. The program takes state testing data each year from a group of participating schools (144 charters nationwide participated last year, along with 3 districts), then looks at the value-added growth the students at these charters made in terms of their proficiency levels. Individual schools are then identified for monetary rewards each year based on their ability to move students to higher levels of proficiency, in return for sharing their best practices in doing so. For the 2007-08 school year, the Lighthouse 7-12 program was a Silver Level winner ranking 7th of 37 participating schools. The K-6 program ranked 12th of 83 elementary schools.
