In Our Classrooms - Life Long Learning

LCCS students are expected to not only be equipped with the content knowledge and academic skills, but are also expected to possess habits that will enable them to be lifelong learners in the 21st century. By the end of their LCCS experience, students will have amassed a set of habits, based upon the LCCS Guiding Principles that will enable lifelong learning. LCCS students will compile a reflective journal or portfolio that highlights their ability in each of the following areas:

  • Collaboration
  • Inquiry
  • Persistence
  • Personal Responsibility
  • Civic Responsibility
  • Reflection

HABIT BREAKOUT
Collaboration
Students will engage in cooperative work and demonstrate effective collaboration skills, including conflict resolution.
Please include an artifact or a narrative piece that demonstrates:

  • Your success as a collaborator
  • Your challenge as a collaborator
  • The importance of collaboration

Inquiry
Students will maintain a natural curiosity by demonstrating the ability to ask a variety of questions to further develop their understanding of the world.
Please include an artifact or a narrative piece that demonstrates:

  • How your curiosity has shaped your education
  • What your future interests and passions are and how they were shaped by your educational experience

Persistence
Students will demonstrate and recognize the value of perseverance when striving for their goals.
Please include an artifact or a narrative piece that demonstrates:

  • Your success as a goal setter
  • Your challenge to achieve goals
  • Also include all of reflective summary of all of your ILPs.

Personal Responsibility
Students will develop self-motivation tools and a strong sense of personal identity in the context of our multicultural and technological world. Additionally, students will demonstrate habits that maintain their physical and emotional wellness.

  • Your most important personal responsibility
  • Where you have struggled to be personally responsible ð Where you want to improve your personal responsibility

Civic Responsibility
Students will demonstrate civic responsibility by learning about and serving in their communities.

  • Your commitment to serving your community
  • Your future goals for serving your community
  • The importance of serving your community

Reflection
Students will regularly assess their academic and social progress toward reaching their goals through reflecting on both the process for achieving goals and outcomes of their goals.
Please include an artifact or a narrative piece that demonstrates:

  • Why reflection is important
  • Your struggle with reflecting
