OVERVIEW
In order for students to have ample opportunity to reach the standards
and outcomes set forth by the school, Lighthouse Community Charter
School offers an extended day option for families. The After School
Program is offered from 3:30 5:00 four days per week and
is free-of-charge to Lighthouse families.
PROGRAM HIGHLIGHTS
The After School Program provides both academic support and enrichment
opportunities.
Grades K-2
- Students share a snack "family style," work on homework,
and engage in play both with the school and at Lincoln Neighborhood
Center.
- Student to Teacher ratio of 10:1
- Approximately 40 students are served in the After School Program.
Should demand exceed supply, these spots are awarded on a lottery
basis.
Grades 6-8
- Monday and Friday are "Club" days in which all students
are invited to participate in the club. Current and past club
activities have included Martial Arts, Cycles for Change, Leadership,
Scrapbooking, Basketball, Breakdancing, Cartooning, Art and
Band.
- Tuesday and Thursday are "Tutoring" days, in which
classroom teachers and tutors work with our most struggling
students. Approximately 10 students per grade level receive
this intensive tutoring. Students are selected by their teachers
to attend.
Lighthouse teachers, members of community organizations, private
contractors, or community and family volunteers lead enrichment
activities at Lighthouse.
