OVERVIEW
Teachers at LCCS work with a teaching partner at their grade level. At Lighthouse we work to leverage the individual wisdom and talent of each teacher to collectively develop our professional practice. We leverage the individual wisdom and talent of each teacher by providing structured daily collaboration time for each grade level teaching partnership. The Lighthouse schedule has been created to ensure that our teachers have over seven hours of collaboration each week. Partner teachers will develop collaboration plans which will be submitted to the Director of Instruction who will attend several collaboration events. The Director of Instruction will work with partner teachers to evaluate the efficacy of different collaborative meetings and will facilitate partner teacher reflection and planning. In the end, Lighthouse teachers will share their individual strengths and wisdom with their peers to enhance the collective capacity of our entire staff.

PROGRAM HIGHLIGHTS
Each Lighthouse Teacher has one hour to ninety minutes collaboration time set aside in their daily schedule. This time is to be used to develop teacher capacity in achieving the school mission by encouraging collaboration. Deliberate collaboration is often a new experience for teachers and we have developed a Collaboration Plan that builds in accountability and reflection into the collaboration experience. The Collaboration Plan (see template below) is created by partner teachers and covers two weeks time. The plan is designed to delineate:

  • Daily usage of collaboration time
  • Goals for each collaborative event
  • When the Director of Instruction will be present
  • When partner teachers will reflect upon the efficacy of their collaboration with the Director of Instruction
